Human review beats an instant algorithm

Online marketplaces quote your file sight-unseen. Here, every file is reviewed by a real person for printability before you pay — wall thickness, overhangs, orientation, and the features that decide whether a part survives its job.

If something in the design will fail, you'll hear it in the quote reply — with a suggested fix — not after the part breaks.

Capacity that scales with your order. One part or a full production run — if a job needs more machines to hit the deadline, we add machines. Big orders and tight timelines are exactly what this shop is set up for.

Coming later: CNC-machined metal parts are a planned next phase. Today, the shop prints plastic — and prints it well.

ASA
Outdoor · UV-resistant

The weatherproof one. ASA shrugs off sun and rain that would fade and crack other plastics. Best for: outdoor brackets, enclosures, vehicle and equipment parts.

PETG
Tough · General-purpose

The workhorse. Strong, slightly flexible, and resistant to chemicals and moisture. Best for: functional parts, fixtures, mounts, and everyday hardware.

PLA
Economical · Crisp detail

The fast, affordable one for checking fit and form before committing to a final material. Best for: prototypes, fit checks, jigs, and display parts.

If it's plastic, we can probably print it.

What does a custom part cost?

Honest ranges up front, an exact price after a free review of your file. No surprises, no obligation.

$35

Parts start at $35

Small, simple parts — a clip, a cap, a small bracket — start here. One-offs are welcome; the minimum order is $35.

$35–$85

Most one-off prototypes

The typical range for a single functional prototype in ASA, PETG, or PLA, reviewed and confirmed before you pay.

Per part

Small batches, volume breaks

Batch runs are priced per part, and the per-part price drops as quantity rises. Send the file and quantity for your exact number.

What moves the price

  • Size — bigger parts use more material and machine time
  • Material — ASA, PETG, and PLA price differently
  • Strength settings — more infill and walls, more material
  • Finish — support removal and surface work
  • Quantity — setup spreads across the run
  • Hardware — heat-set inserts and fasteners, when a part needs them
The shop

Built to take on your order.

Douglas Nash is a custom manufacturing shop in San Antonio, Texas, built around FDM 3D printing. One-off prototypes, replacement parts, and small-batch production are the everyday work — and the shop is set up to scale: when a bigger order comes in, we add machines and capacity to meet it, so large runs and tight deadlines get a yes, not a waitlist.

Every file gets a real review before printing, and every part is inspected against the agreed spec before it ships. If it doesn't match, it's reprinted free.

Shop note — October 2026

The shop is open and taking its first orders. First-time customers: get a small test print of your part at cost before committing to a production run.

A

Designed for the process

Wall thickness, print orientation, and insert placement are decided up front — the details that decide whether a printed part actually works.

B

The right material for the job

ASA for sun and weather, PETG for tough everyday parts, PLA for fast, economical prototypes. If you pick wrong, we'll tell you before printing.

C

Hardware installed

Heat-set inserts and matched fasteners turn a printed shape into a ready-to-use assembly.

D

Measured before it leaves

Critical dimensions are checked with calipers against your file. If a part doesn't match the agreed spec, it's reprinted free.

From the shop bench

Capability samples printed in our own shop to prove out the process — shown as what they are, not dressed up as client work.

Outdoor sensor bracket — ASAPrinted to prove UV-resistant ASA holds its mounting pattern and finish outside.
Replacement cover clip — PETGA fit-from-measurements exercise: recreating a broken clip's snap geometry so it seats like the original.
Enclosure fit-check — PLAA cheap first article to verify board standoffs and lid fit before the final print in ASA.

Questions, answered straight.

Cost, turnaround, tolerances, and files — the things buyers ask before they send a drawing.

How much does a custom 3D printed part cost?

Parts start at $35. Most one-off prototypes land between $35 and $85, and small batches are priced per part with volume breaks. Size, material, strength settings, finish, and quantity move the price. Every quote is confirmed after a free review of your file, so the price you approve is the price you pay.

How fast can I get my part?

Quotes are answered within 1 business day. Standard turnaround after you approve a quote is 3–7 business days, depending on part size and quantity. In a hurry? Rush service turns qualifying parts around in 24 hours — and in San Antonio and Austin, qualifying parts can be hand-delivered the same day. Tell us your need-by date in the quote request and we'll confirm whether we can hit it before you commit.

What files do you accept?

STL, STEP/STP, OBJ, and 3MF, up to 100 MB. No file yet? Describe the part — or send a sketch, photo, or measurements — and we'll help you get it print-ready.

Which material should I choose — ASA, PETG, or PLA?

ASA for outdoor and UV-exposed parts, PETG for tough general-purpose functional parts, and PLA for economical prototypes and fit checks. Not sure? Pick “Not sure” on the quote form and we'll recommend the material for your part's job.

How accurate are the parts?

Typical FDM tolerance is ±0.2 mm. Critical dimensions are checked with calipers before a part ships, and if a part doesn't match the agreed spec, we reprint it free.

Is there a minimum order?

Yes — a $35 minimum order. One-offs are welcome — a single replacement part is a normal job here. First-time customers can start with a small test print of their part at cost before committing to a production run.

Are my files confidential? Will you sign an NDA?

Yes. Your files are kept confidential and never shared, and we're happy to sign your NDA before you send anything sensitive.

Do you offer same-day delivery?

Yes — in San Antonio and Austin. Qualifying rush parts are printed and hand-delivered the same day: for Austin, approve your quote by 10 AM and we'll deliver in a late-afternoon window; San Antonio orders can run later in the day. Same-day applies to parts that print in a few hours, and we confirm eligibility and the delivery fee with your quote before you commit.

Do you ship, or is it pickup only?

All three. Pick up in San Antonio, choose same-day hand-delivery in San Antonio or Austin on qualifying parts, or we ship anywhere in the US.
